About

Sovereign AI, built for Africa and the world

Tamebillab is a research and development lab specializing in private, open source, locally deployable artificial intelligence.

Our mission

We believe that artificial intelligence should not be the privilege of large enterprises or countries with developed cloud infrastructure. Our mission is to make AI accessible, private, and operational in constrained environments: low bandwidth, heterogeneous hardware, data sovereignty.

Strategic focus areas

What we work on

Private and sovereign artificial intelligence

We develop AI solutions that run entirely locally, with no data transmitted to external servers. Your data stays under your control, on your infrastructure.

Open source model platform

Our platform aggregates and optimizes the best open source models on the market. We select, test and package models adapted to real hardware constraints.

Model research and optimization

We conduct applied research on compression, quantization and optimization of language models to make them accessible on consumer hardware.

Embeddings and document intelligence

We build indexing and semantic search pipelines to enable organizations to query their documents in natural language, with no cloud dependency.

AI infrastructure

We design and deploy AI infrastructures adapted to African contexts — low bandwidth, energy constraints, heterogeneous hardware — to ensure AI that works everywhere.

Digital sovereignty research

We contribute to the discussion on sovereign AI policies and publish work on the technological independence of states and organizations from major cloud players.

Our values

Open Source

Everything we build is open, auditable and reusable.

Local Data

Zero transmission, zero cloud dependency.

Performance

Models optimized for real hardware, not ideal hardware.

Accessibility

AI for everyone, including where connectivity is limited.
